On June 29, 2024, the Governor signed Senate Bill 153 (“SB 153”), also known as the Education Omnibus Budget Trailer Bill. SB 153, among other items, significantly amended the independent study requirements.

Join our experts to learn about the SB 153 amendments that necessitate changes to independent study board policies. We will guide you through the updates to independent study policies and practices that must be implemented before the 2024-25 school year begins. Failure to comply with these changes may result in a loss of funding for students.  In this webinar, we will review the changes to independent study board policies (both traditional and course-based), discuss the timing of signature for independent study agreements, and consider the new attendance documentation requirements.

Please plan on joining us for a longer webinar on July 25 for a comprehensive discussion on the other areas of law amended by SB 153 and applicable to charter schools (outside of independent study).
