Young, Minney & Corr, LLP (YM&C) is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney, preferably with public sector labor relations experience. We serve private/independent schools and public charter schools statewide—often on cutting-edge, first-impression issues that shape the educational landscape for students, parents, and educators.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as trusted counsel to school leaders and boards on governance, policy, and risk management
- Handle student discipline, enrollment/admissions issues, and student/parent disputes
- Advise on employment law (hiring/termination, investigations, wage/hour, accommodations)
- Draft and negotiate contracts, handbooks, policies, and MOUs
- Manage pre-litigation strategy and litigation (state/federal court and administrative matters)
- Provide training on best practices, compliance, privacy/data security, and records
- Partner with a collaborative team that values practical solutions and outstanding client service
Qualifications
- Active California Bar (required)
- 5+ years advising/representing private and/or independent schools in California
- Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- A collegial, detail-oriented, strategic approach and commitment to client service
- Bonus: experience with nonprofit corporate issues, religious/mission-aligned schools, investigations, privacy & data security, or policy/handbook development

We are seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney to join our team of dedicated school advocates (at any of our four offices). As part of our dynamic legal team, you will be at the forefront of education law, tackling complex cases that have a profound impact on our society. If you have 5+ years of litigation experience and are a member of the California Bar, we want to hear from you!
