Let your Board members know: CCSA’s Governance Academy is back!
This is the Spring/Fall intensive workshop designed to provide immediate, practical tools and increase knowledge of legal obligations for stewards of public schools. For August 2020, the Academy will be after-hours, starting at 6 pm, via webinar, presented in two parts of 90 minutes each. Presenters are Wayne Strumpfer from the Young, Minney & Corr law firm, and Julie Umansky from CCSA’s legal team.
Topics covered include:
- Compliance with SB 126 (now Education Code Section 47604.1)
- Brown Act and teleconferencing tips during the pandemic
- Financial issues including the limits on use of public funds
- Explaining conflict of interest rules for Board members and school staff
- Public Records Act requests: rules, exemptions, and tips for compliance
- What you need to know in filling out the Form 700
- How to become a more effective and efficient Governing Board Member
- Any of your specific questions.
Participants will gain new and enhanced knowledge about charter school governance obligations, roles, and responsibilities.
Part One: August 18 — 6:00-7:30PM PST
Brown Act including SB126 and operating virtually during the pandemic, conflicts of interest and the Form 700. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
Part Two: August 19 — 6:00-7:30PM PST
Public Records Act, financial oversight of public funds, good governance advice and tips for charter boards and school administrators. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
