Numerous California school districts and charter schools announced today, March 13, 2020 that they would be closing in an effort to control the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Late today, the Governor issued an executive order confirming that charter schools which close to address COVID-19 will continue to receive funding to provide critical services (https://www.gov.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/3.13.20-EO-N-26-20-Schools.pdf). We realize that many of you have been preparing for this possibility. This legal alert will provide you with additional guidance and information regarding legal issues and questions you may have during this process. Such guidance does not constitute legal advice but is solely intended as a general resource to assist charter schools.
