Ever feel like planning and writing an IEP is like trying to complete a complex puzzle where the pieces keep changing shape? You are not alone! Join us for this transformative two-part series designed to help your special education team prepare and develop IEPs that not only meet legal requirements but genuinely serve your students.
Part 1: Setting the Stage for IEP Team Success
Think of this session as your roadmap to avoiding those seemingly small missteps that can lead to big headaches down the road. We will explore what “educational benefit” really means in practice (hint: it is more than just checking boxes!) and identify those critical pre-meeting elements that can make or break your IEP process before you even sit down at the table.
Part 2: From Present Levels to FAPE – How to build a legally compliant IEP
Ready to level up your IEP game? We will dive into the art and science of crafting a legally compliant IEP. Based on various sources of data, IEPs teams are tasked with determining student’s unique needs which are then used to develop measurable and meaningful goals. You will learn how to use the goals developed to make offers of FAPE that stand up to scrutiny and understand the unique considerations for charter schools – because yes, some of those requirements really do apply to you!
Throughout both sessions, we will weave together real-world examples, practical strategies, and legal insights that will help your team develop IEPs with confidence. Whether you are new to special education or a seasoned professional, you will walk away with tools you can use immediately to create stronger, more effective IEPs.
Remember: Great IEPs are not just about avoiding legal pitfalls – they are about creating clear plans for student success. Let us work together to make that happen!
