Join us for up-to-the-minute updates on critical information about SB 414 and AB 84, as well as important provisions in the upcoming education budget trailer bill that may directly impact your charter school operations.  SB 414 and AB 84 span well over 100 pages each and represent significant changes to charter school law. Although AB 84 is likely to be a two-year bill, SB 414 remains active and eligible for a vote this week.  This isn’t just another minor regulatory update—it could fundamentally reshape how charter schools manage their finances, contract for services, and provide independent study.  They may also cause significant changes in how charter schools are overseen by local and state agencies, how independent audits are conducted, and how new state mandates for charter schools are funded.  Finally, they may extend the moratorium on new nonclassroom-based charter schools in different ways.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Key provisions in SB 414 and AB 84 that impact your school
  • Budget trailer bill language affecting charter schools
  • Your rights and limitations when it comes to advocacy on these issues
  • Compliance requirements and next steps for your school

The stakes are high, and the timeline is tight. Join us to understand precisely how these changes could affect your students, staff, and school community—and what actions you can legally take to make your voice heard in this process.  Votes on these bills are expected this week, and this is your last opportunity to have your voice heard.  Even if you have already taken a position on the bills, you must weigh in again to ensure your voice is heard.  In addition to school staff, we recommend that charter school board members attend this webinar.
