Overview

Annabella Yousif is a passionate advocate that brings her notable skills in legal writing, research, and oral advocacy to YM&C. Having spent the start of her legal career in criminal law, Annabella now applies her advocacy skills to advance the mission of equity in education on the Litigation Team.

Before joining Young, Minney & Corr, Annabella was a Deputy District Attorney in the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Justice, Training and Integrity Unit, where she handled post-conviction matters at the superior court level. Annabella began her legal career in the California Attorney General’s Honors Program, where she represented the People of California as a Deputy Attorney General in the Appeals, Writs and Trials section, handling felony appeals in the Third and Fifth District Courts of Appeal. As a state and county prosecutor handling cases involving new and evolving criminal issues, Annabella was able to cultivate and define her legal research and writing skills.

Annabella earned her J.D. from McGeorge School of Law, where she served on the board of the McGeorge Women’s Caucus, Criminal Law Society, Student Bar Association and National Lawyer’s Guild. In her second and third years of law school, Annabella enjoyed mentoring first year students in their criminal law course. As a member of the McGeorge Negotiations and Moot Court teams, Annabella explored her passion for both criminal and civil litigation.

In her spare time, Annabella enjoys volunteering at Front Street Animal Shelter and spending time with her close friends, family, and two cats, Millie and Lucy!
