Overview

Roger Scott’s practice covers all aspects of labor and employment law. This includes serving as a negotiator for public schools and other nonprofit employers, responding to grievances, representing clients in labor arbitrations, preparing position statements in response to unfair labor practice charges and discrimination complaints, and representing clients in hearings before California’s Public Employment Relations Board and other public agencies.

Immediately before joining Young, Minney & Corr, LLP, Roger spent over thirteen years as a union representative at United Teachers Los Angeles, where he handled grievances and arbitrations and served as chief negotiator in several “first contracts” for charter schools. He also served as an “Essentials of Bargaining” trainer for six years at the annual CTA Summer Institute at UCLA.

Following his graduation from law school, Roger worked in civil litigation for two and one-half years before pursuing a lifelong dream of joining the United States Peace Corps, where he served as Legal Adviser to two provincial governments in the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific.

Roger’s interest in education law began in the classroom. He taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 13 years, teaching English, ESL, journalism, and social studies to students in grades 6 through 11.
