Overview

Tellis Aucoin works on the YM&C Student Services Team in the practice areas of student rights, discipline, and special education.

Tellis graduated from LMU Loyola Law School, where she served in various leadership roles, including as a representative of the Day Student Bar Association, Women’s Law Association, and the Public Interest Law Foundation. While in law school, Tellis worked for the Loyola Center for Juvenile Law and Policy’s Youth Justice Education Clinic as a clinical law student, advocating for clients involved in the juvenile justice and dependency systems in special education and school discipline matters. Through the clinic, she became involved in student-led public advocacy for academic amnesty. Tellis supported students in marginalized groups subject to disproportionate disengagement with their schools during the COVID-19 distance learning mandate in LAUSD. Additionally, she served as a legal advocate for families at the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center on special education matters during her time in law school. She also spent a semester abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, in a comparative law and justice program through a collaboration between the University of Missouri School of Law and the University of the Western Cape.

Before joining Young, Minney & Corr, LLP, Tellis worked as an associate attorney in family law.

If Tellis were not a lawyer, her alternate dream would be to teach. She loves history, drawing and painting, and children’s movies!
