Overview
Mariam Babayan’s primary practice areas include student discipline and expulsion hearings, special education, due process complaints, and student services policies and handbooks. She is passionately committed to helping clients help themselves. She leads trainings, webinars, and workshops to give administrators the tools and best practice guidance they need to do their best work—educating our kids—while remaining confident about legal compliance.
Following a lifelong passion for teaching and learning, Mariam taught Shakespeare at a local community college before committing to law school. Before joining Young, Minney & Corr, LLP, Mariam spent three years as a chapter affairs and governance liaison, advising a California non-profit mental health trade association’s 29 chapters on various corporate governance issues. Mariam has provided pro bono legal services to parents and special education students at the University of San Diego’s Education and Disability Clinic. She has worked as a pro bono advocate for children and families at the Casa Cornelia Law Center and the San Diego Legal Aid Society.
