Overview

Mark S. Julius has managed more than 200 appeals, authored over 200 insurance coverage opinions, and litigated over 70 cases to verdicts in state and federal courts.

Mark began his career in the US Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps as an appellate lawyer in Washington, DC, then Senior Defense Counsel at the National Training Center, Ft. Irwin, California. A subsequent career in insurance defense and coverage, including bad faith (first party) defense and various types of third-party defense, such as toxic tort, employment, products liability, premises liability, medical malpractice, auto, and D & O. Many of these cases involved wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, or multi-level spine surgeries. Much of his career also involved real estate (quiet title, due diligence, construction, management company negligence, nuisance) and contract litigation.

Mark has a strong passion for alternative dispute resolution, receiving training from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law (Mediating the Litigated Case (2016), Managing Conflict 4.0 (2015).

He also has a deep personal interest in issues affecting LGBTQ+ people, People of Color, and First Nations. He is a Warrior member of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM.
