Overview
A career defense attorney, Ellen Doty is passionate about taking on powerful bureaucracies to protect her clients’ rights. Most recently, before joining YM&C, Ellen worked in legal aid, representing clients in civil litigation matters, disputes with government agencies, and many other issues affecting individual rights. No stranger to taking on public school districts, Ellen has represented students in school discipline proceedings and fought to ensure that these institutions follow the law. Before this, Ellen represented hundreds of teachers before the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, fighting for individuals’ careers and challenging and educating powerful state actors. Ellen has experience representing clients at trial and administrative hearings and takes a compassionate, client-focused approach to her practice.
